Second European Congress on Assertive Outreach - "Improving Integration"

Assertive Outreach is the term used for interventions that target severely mentally ill patients in the
community. Assertive Outreach can be carried out by different multidisciplinary services. Not all
European countries have Assertive Outreach programs, and those who have differ widely with
respect to patient groups targeted, organisational models, participation of clients, and research
findings.

The aim of the Second European Congress on Assertive Outreach is to stimulate the development
of evidence-based models of Assertive Outreach by starting a European wide dialogue on the
following topics: research findings, models of Assertive Outreach including Assertive Community
Treatment (ACT) and Function Assertive Community Treatment (FACT), model fidelity, target
groups (including different age groups, forensic, homeless or early psychosis patients),
implementation issues, case-finding, motivational problems, strength based model, rehabilitation
and recovery, participation of clients, crisis intervention, continuity of care, step down models,
implementation of other evidence-based practices within the context of Assertive Outreach, and
cost-effectiveness.

The Second European Congress on Assertive Outreach hopes to bring together clinicians, researchers, policy makers and clients, and to contribute to developing high quality care for the most vulnerable citizens within our countries.
